Borger Fire Department Promotes Captain Galloway to Assistant Chief

BORGER, TEXAS— Borger Fire Chief Bob Watson has announced the promotion of Captain Michael Galloway to Assistant Fire Chief, effective December 10, 2018. Galloway joined the Department in August, 1993 and has been with the Borger Fire Department for 25 years. “I have had the distinct pleasure of wearing the Borger Fire Department uniform and serving the citizens of this great city”, stated Galloway. During Galloway’s career he “has been fortunate to progress through the ranks and experience every facet of the department as a Captain” and he is “honored” to be a part of a Fire Department that he has “seen grow into a progressive department with recognition on a statewide level.” He plans on helping to facilitate the progression and “help continue the successful path and continue building a stronger fire department for the future.” Galloway is a fervent believer in education, training and protection and assents “the citizens of this community deserve an exceptional service and rely on us to perform efficiently and effectively when they call.” “I am excited for a new adventure” stated Galloway in regards to the most recent promotion to Assistant Fire Chief. Captain Galloway is quintessential of the kind of exceptional service and training he, and the City, believe the citizens deserve. 

Along with his exemplary 25 years of service, Galloway has numerous Texas Commission on Fire Protection certificates including “Master Firefighter”; holds two secondary education degrees, including a Bachelor of Arts with a focus in Fire Administration from Western Illinois University, and an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Protection and Technology from Frank Phillips. Galloway also holds a Certificate in Fire Administration and Management from the National Fire Academy and is a respected member of Texas Fire Chiefs Association, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, International Association of Fire Chiefs and International Society of Fire Service Instructors. Fire Chief Bob Watson concurs, “Assistant Chief Galloway is a proven leader. In the last several years, he has led efforts to improve the fire department and continue our success in proactive hazard mitigation.” “Assistant Chief Galloway possesses the experience, leadership and vision to bring a constructive and positive culture of professionalism and accountability to the Borger Fire Department” Chief Watson indicated.
