Criminal Investigations

Criminal Investigations is responsible for working various types of misdemeanor and felony crimes. After the initial report is taken by patrol, a detective is contacted if the case requires it. The detective will work with patrol and then further the investigation. The detective is usually responsible for taking statements, processing crime scenes, collecting and booking evidence, preparing a case file, and submitting it to the appropriate prosecutor. The detective will then testify in grand jury and criminal prosecutions.
