The traffic unit consists of two full-time patrol officers dedicated to traffic enforcement, improvement, and reduction in preventable motor vehicle collisions. The primary vehicle for the traffic unit is the Harley Davidson motorcycle. During cold or inclement weather, they are assigned to a patrol car and continue their primary duties. They are also responsible for placing the traffic and community notice trailer around town. This trailer will monitor speed and encourage motorists to drive safely. In addition, it can put out information related to special events or critical weather. They are also responsible for funeral escorts, parade routes, and other special events. Both officers enjoy interacting with the community as part of their daily tasks and are often invited to special events to speak with community members and students.
